“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does need to be ashamed, accurately handling the Word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15
My husband and oldest daughter both think alike. They are smart, funny, type A, competitive people. The one thing they also share is their dislike for schoolwork, both learn so quickly they do not feel the need to show what they know. Although having an understanding is wonderful, I explained to my daughter that she will also be asked to show what she knows. In a class, being a know-it-all is not always the most popular position to hold but still we need to be able to show what we have learned on tests, homework and projects. This reminded me of the verse above, how much do we know and understand about the Lord and how much do we show it?
As Christ followers, we need to be well versed in who we are following and why. We do not need to be the know-it-all, but we need to be able to share our love for the Lord when put to the test. Our classroom is life, the study material is the Bible, and the Teacher is the Lord. We have opportunities all day, every day to impact those around us. We do not have to have all the answers, we just need to be able to point those who are seeking answers, to the Lord and His Word. Let us not find ourselves unprepared for those opportunities, unable to show the work, but rather prepared and in pursuit of the Lord.
